Rooted in Family and Tradition Back to Basics Log Cabin began with one hive and a simple dream. More than 85 years ago, Randy’s father became the first beekeeper in the family while studying in a one-room schoolhouse in Elizabeth, West Virginia. His love for bees, the land, and honest work planted the seed for a family tradition now carried through three generations.

When Randy continued his father’s legacy, he and Amanda began sharing their honey and handmade goods from a small roadside stand at the end of their driveway in Little Hocking, Ohio. Their children, Heather and Trent, soon joined in—learning the rhythm of the bees, the value of craftsmanship, and the joy of serving their community.

As their little stand grew, the family built a log cabin from the ground up—a cozy, welcoming space to share their expanding line of natural wellness products. Today, Back to Basics Log Cabin offers handcrafted soaps, salves, lotions, and body butters, as well as locally sourced goods that celebrate simple, healthy living and mindful self-care.

Amanda is the heart behind every formula. Guided by a passion for natural wellness and a love for her craft, she hand-blends each product using pure oils, raw butters, and gentle, nature-based preservatives. Every creation reflects the family’s dedication to quality, sustainability, and authenticity—made with care, from their hands to yours.
